Dear Bluestreak Families,

Today marks what would have been our last day of attendance before our spring break.  And while we have not had students in our building, our staff has still been hard at work.  As we go into this Easter weekend, our staff will be going home as originally planned to spend time with their families.  Therefore, phones will not be answered in our buildings again until Tuesday, and emails may take some time to get answered.

Our next meal distribution day will be Tuesday, April 14th from 11AM-1PM.  If you are not already on our list, please contact Sheena Hammond at the unit office next week at 217-382-4321 or hammonds@martinsville.k12.il.us.  We will be distributing 2 days’ of breakfasts and lunches at that time.

On April 14th, we will also be providing our students with their next remote learning packets.  Elementary packets will be provided during meal pick up or delivery, or you may pick up packets from the elementary porch from 4:00PM-6:00PM on Tuesday the 14th.  Completed packets can be returned that day as well at the same times.  Remote learning packets for 7-12th grade will be available in the Jr.-Sr. High School administrative vestibule, which is open from 7:30 AM-6:00PM each day.  Completed learning packets can be returned in the same area.  Learning packets are also available in digital format to anyone who wants one.  Remember, while the first set of learning packets did not count toward student grades, the second set does, as will the packet going out on the 14th.

If your household income has changed due to a recent layoff or job loss, please consider filling out an application for free/reduced meals through TeacherEase.  While all meals that we serve during this shut down are free to all who want them, there may be extra benefits available to families or extra grant funds for the school district for families who have moved to a free or reduced status, but only if we have an approved application on file.

I also urge all families to complete their Census 2020 response if they haven’t already.  Much of our federal funding is dependent upon census numbers for our district.  If you aren’t counted in the census, the funding goes to other districts.
