Dear Bluestreak Families: The district wants you to be aware of a hoax of false reporting that has become a national trend using screenshots of threats, targeting school communities across the nation on multiple social media platforms including TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram. It is important for each of you to know as of today, there have been NO such reports in the Martinsville School District. Being proactive about these matters is one of the most effective ways we can keep our school safe. I strongly encourage parents and caregivers to be aware of your child’s media exposure regarding threats and hoaxes and to speak to your children about the seriousness of false threats. The safety and security of our students is our top priority, so we will work diligently with law enforcement if such reports are made locally. Martinsville takes all matters involving student safety seriously and will remain diligent in maintaining a secure and welcoming educational environment for our students. Please remember that the most important things we can do to keep our schools safe are 1) to ensure that all of our students have a connection to and sense of belonging in their school communities, with support for their social, emotional, and mental well-being; and 2) to report anything that concerns you about someone who is acting or communicating in ways that could be threatening or otherwise seems "off." To close, I’d also like to take a moment to highlight the importance of encouraging your child to let an adult know if they see or hear anything, please report it. Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. -- Mr. Bob Waggoner Superintendent Martinsville CUSD #C-3

September is Attendance Awareness Month...Students who attend school regularly tend to do better academically. Chronic absences can lead to lower performance and academic struggles. By coming to school every day, students develop routines that promote responsibility and time management. These skills are not only essential for academic success, but also for success in life beyond school.
