More WooHoo smiles from MES to brighten your day! 💙🤍
Our Bluestreaks are shining with pride after earning a trip to the WooHoo Cart! Hard work, great attitudes, and GRIT are what make MES such a special place to learn and grow. 🌟

High school students were invited to attend an informational session with Ethan Osborne from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!
Ethan shared valuable information about the university’s academic programs, majors, admission requirements, campus life, and more. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn what it takes to become part of the Fighting Illini family!
A big thank-you to Ethan for visiting Martinsville High School and inspiring our students to explore their future college and career pathways. 🌟

We love celebrating students who show GRIT — Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity, and Teamwork — each and every day. These smiling faces prove that hard work and positive choices pay off!

Our MES students had a blast choosing a prize from the WooHoo Cart this week! It was a tough decision with all the goodies aboard, but every choice was well-earned.
These hardworking Bluestreaks finished Quarter 1 showing GRIT — going above and beyond in the classroom and setting a positive example for others. 💙🤍
We’re so proud of their effort, attitude, and teamwork. Keep shining, MES! 🌟

It’s Volleyball “Senior Night”… with a twist!
Since we don’t have any senior volleyball players this year, we’re turning the celebration into something fun for everyone!
We’re inviting our student section and fans to dress like “seniors” — think walkers, cardigans, gray wigs, and glasses — and show up ready to cheer loud for our Lady Bluestreaks! 💪
Let’s pack the gym and make it a night to remember! 💙🤍

Congratulations to RaeLynn Murphy who was selected for ILMEA District Junior Chorus and to Grace Penrod who was selected for ILMEA District Senior Treble Choir. They will be going to EIU on November 22nd to sing in the ILMEA District choirs. They both had to submit auditions, and both auditions were judged. They are both ILMEA All-State eligible which will be announced if they are going at a later time. Way to go Bluestreaks!

Our first graders had an incredible day learning and laughing with Mrs. Parcel’s high school students at the Lincoln School House! Students got hands-on with history — milking cows, making butter, shelling corn, washing laundry, and even sawing logs! 💪🪵

Our 6th graders had so much fun at the Lincoln School and we just had to share more of the fun! Our students truly got to experience what school was like long ago. We love seeing their smiles and curiosity shine through. What a wonderful way to bring history to life!

A big thank you to Mrs. Parcel and her amazing high school students for hosting such a memorable day at our Lincoln School!
Our 1st and 6th graders enjoyed a wonderful day on the prairie, taking part in old-time lessons, crafts, and activities that brought history to life. Students even dressed in their “Little House on the Prairie” best, making the experience extra special!
What a fun way to learn and celebrate our past while creating new memories together! 💙🤍

STEM Challenge: The Marshmallow Tower!
Our 7th and 8th grade students took on a STEM team-building challenge during Bluestreak Period that tested their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills!
Students participated in the Marshmallow Tower Challenge, a hands-on activity designed to build teamwork and communication.
Here’s how it worked:
Materials: Each team received uncooked spaghetti, masking tape, string, and one marshmallow.
Objective: Build the tallest freestanding structure possible with the marshmallow on top!
Time Limit: 18 minutes to plan, build, and test their designs.
Reflection: Afterward, students discussed what strategies worked best and how communication impacted their success.
This fun and engaging challenge encouraged students to think critically, work collaboratively, and embrace a growth mindset, all while having a great time learning through teamwork!

Career Speaker Spotlight
Students were invited to attend a career presentation during their Bluestreak Period, featuring Jennifer Bishop from the University of Illinois Extension Office.
Jennifer shared her educational journey and encouraged students to pursue their dreams, no matter how big they are. She challenged everyone to embrace the mindset of “Why not me?” and reminded students that if the community needs something, don’t wait on someone else to do it, but instead step up and be a life changer.
Thank you, Jennifer, for inspiring our students to follow their passions, serve others, and make a difference right here in our community! 🌟
