We love seeing creativity in action at MES! Mr. Gard, our 5th grade student teacher, planned one of the most engaging writing activities that had students genuinely excited to learn! Students conducted comparative research and then used persuasive writing to argue who would win in a head-to-head showdown. The classroom turned into a battle of facts, evidence, and strong arguments as students presented their cases. It was learning, competition, and confidence all rolled into one! In the end, Sarah and her armadillo claimed the top spot! 🏆👏 Way to go, 5th grade! We are proud of the research, critical thinking, and presentation skills on display. Mrs. Conzen and her students love the way Mr. Gard is going above and beyond in their classroom.

Mrs. Poston’s first graders have been busy meteorologists this week! They’ve been making predictions about whether March will come in like a lion or a lamb and will be tracking and reporting the weather each day to see if their predictions and the, old wives’ tale, hold true! With chilly temperatures and cloudy skies in the forecast to start the month, it just might be a roaring lion but we all know March likes to keep us guessing! Stayed tuned as they track the weather in March.

Our amazing kindergarteners have been working hard to show their Bluestreak GRIT, and it paid off in a BIG way! They filled up their Behavior Bingo board and earned a special celebration day complete with a Game Day, Pajama Party, and Lunch in the Classroom! From showing Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity, and Teamwork, these little leaders proved that positive choices lead to fun rewards. We are so proud of the way they encourage one another.

🦕🦖 Big discoveries and big accomplishments at MES today! Our preschool paleontologists have been hard at work digging into their dinosaur unit! They did a fantastic job identifying and naming the different parts of a dinosaurs. From heads and tails to claws and spikes these little learners are becoming true dino experts! 🦴 In first grade, we celebrated a very special reader who has earned an incredible 55 AR points! 📚🌟 As a reward for her dedication and love of reading, she got to sit in the teacher’s chair ALL day long! What a fun (and well-deserved!) way to celebrate hard work and reading success.

🎉📚 MES is Celebrating Read Across America Next Week! 📚🎉 Next week, Martinsville Elementary will join schools across the nation in celebrating Read Across America! This annual celebration promotes the joy of reading and encourages children to become lifelong readers. It’s a time to highlight the importance of literacy, spark imagination, and remind our students that books can take them anywhere. To make the week even more exciting, we’ll be celebrating with special dress-up days! These themed days aren’t just for fun (although they definitely are 😊) they help build excitement around books, engage students in creative ways, and make reading a memorable experience. When students connect joy and creativity with literacy, it strengthens their love for learning. We can’t wait to see our students step right up and join us as we celebrate the power of reading at MES!

It's been another busy week at MES. Our 2nd graders enjoyed some inside recess time, filling the classroom with laughter, creativity, and teamwork. Meanwhile, our preschoolers are diving into an exciting new unit all about volcanoes and dinosaurs! From erupting experiments to exploring the prehistoric world, these little learners are asking big questions and discovering how the Earth changes over time. The curiosity (and excitement!) is erupting just like their volcanoes!

Members of the Class of 2026 have been busy planning for life after high school and exploring future opportunities.

Recently, Hector Herrera, Ben Hiatt, and Evan Seaman visited Indiana State University, where they toured campus, met with admissions counselors, and enjoyed a great day learning about college life.

In addition, Ireland Parker participated in a job shadow experience at Horizon Health in Paris, gaining valuable insight into healthcare careers.

Students interested in setting up job shadows or college visits should see Mrs. Lowry, the school counselor, for more details.

Keep working hard and preparing for your futures, Bluestreaks! 💙
