It's Homecoming Week!
In second grade, our Special Student of the Week had the opportunity to be the class reader and share a favorite story with their classmates. What a special way to celebrate our students and build a love for reading!
Meanwhile, our kindergarteners were the apple of our school! They read The Bad Apple, created bubbling apple volcanoes, painted with apples, and completed some fun apple projects.
Our Bluestreaks have been enjoying all things pumpkin, from hands-on pumpkin experiments to showing off their creativity with pumpkin painting
On Thursday, our students enjoyed The NED Show!
NED is a fun and engaging growth mindset program that encourages students to:
N – Never Give Up
E – Encourage Others
D – Do Your Best
Our Bluestreaks learned these important lessons while enjoying some awesome yo-yo tricks, magic, and lots of laughs!
What a fun way to remind our students that a positive mindset, perseverance, and kindness can help them accomplish great things!
Miss Seaman’s 3rd graders are finding fun, hands-on ways to practice their spelling words! By using different ways to see, say, write, and work with their words, students are strengthening their spelling skills while keeping learning engaging and fun.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Young’s 1st graders are becoming little researchers! They took polls of their classmates, collected the results, and then used what they learned to write about their findings. What a great way to combine math, communication, and writing skills all in one activity!
There are plenty of opportunities to get out and support our Bluestreak students on Saturday, October 3rd!

Today we give a BIG Bluestreak THANK YOU to our amazing school custodians ~ Ian, Dave, Janet, Joy & Ryan. From keeping our classrooms clean to making sure our buildings are safe and ready each day, you do so much behind the scenes to keep our schools shining.
We appreciate your hard work, dedication, and everything you do for our students and staff. Our schools simply wouldn’t be the same without you!
Miss Rayhel’s fourth graders were busy working together on hands-on science projects, while Mrs. Gullquist’s sixth graders became archaeologists for the day, creating tools and digging for artifacts as part of their social studies learning!
Hands-on learning gives students the opportunity to explore, create, problem-solve, and work together. Most importantly, it helps take what they are learning from the pages of a book and turn it into an experience they can see, touch, and remember.
We love seeing our teachers find creative ways to make learning meaningful and fun at MES!
Nothing beats playground fun, and this beautiful weather has been perfect for getting outside, playing with friends, laughing, and making memories!
Sometimes the best moments of the school day happen when our Bluestreaks are simply enjoying being kids!
Ms. Carpenter's choir class had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Illinois Youth in Harmony Festival at Eastern Illinois University!
Throughout the day, students rehearsed two barbershop quartet songs with talented clinicians and the Extra Credit Quartet from Greenville, South Carolina.
What a great opportunity for our students to learn from experienced musicians, strengthen their vocal skills, and experience the unique style and harmony of barbershop music. We are proud of our Bluestreak musicians for representing Martinsville!
Mrs. Parcel’s Early Childhood students attended Teen Teacher Training at the Extension Office this week!
During the training, students learned techniques and strategies for presenting lessons to elementary-aged students. They also participated in the Brain Architecture Game, where they learned how supportive and adverse life experiences can affect brain development.
This was a great hands-on opportunity for our students to build their teaching, communication, and leadership skills while gaining a better understanding of child development. We can't wait to see these students teach the lessons they learned to our elementary Bluestreaks!

Ms. Carpenter’s 1st and 2nd grade students were moving, grooving, and learning during music class! Students enjoyed a fun music and movement activity that got them up, active, and feeling the beat.
There’s nothing better than learning while making a little music along the way!
