Today, we celebrated our 5th grade D.A.R.E. Graduation at Martinsville Elementary! We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department for investing their time into our students through the D.A.R.E. program this year. A special thank you goes to Sheriff Brown and Deputy Jeremiah Hanley for not only teaching important lessons about making safe and responsible choices, but also for building positive relationships with our students along the way. Today’s pizza celebration was the perfect way to celebrate all of their hard work and accomplishments! We are proud of our 5th graders for completing the program and for the leadership, respect, and responsibility they continue to show each day. Thank you to our local law enforcement officers for supporting and encouraging our Bluestreaks!

Our 5th grade students had an incredible day exploring our state capital in Springfield, Illinois! Students toured historic sites and landmarks while learning all about Illinois government and the important role our state capital plays. One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to visit the House floor after session. A special thank you goes to Representative Adam Niemerg for helping make the experience extra memorable. Each student received a special certificate from the Capitol to remember their visit. Of course, no trip to Springfield would be complete without stopping to rub Abraham Lincoln’s nose for a little good luck! Our students had a wonderful day learning, exploring, and making memories together.

Mrs. Young’s first graders were all a flutter today as they released their beautiful butterflies! Students have loved watching the amazing transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and learning all about the life cycle along the way. Today was the perfect ending as their tiny classroom friends spread their wings and flew away. What a magical learning experience for these little Bluestreaks!
