Let’s twist again, MES style!
We couldn’t get enough of our 50s Sock Hop fun, so here’s round two of photos that will have you saying “golly gee!”
Our first graders were cooler than a root beer float and sharper than a jukebox tune as they danced, laughed, and celebrated the 50th day of school in style!
These kiddos sure know how to rock around the clock and make learning look like a whole lot of fun!

Our first graders celebrated the 50th day of school in true ’50s style; poodle skirts twirlin’, hair slicked back, and tunes from the jukebox filling their rooms!
These cool cats showed off their best moves at the Sock Hop, sipped on root beer floats, and wowed us with hula hoop contests all while counting their way to 50!
It was a blast from the past that had everyone saying, “Gee whiz, school’s the bee’s knees!”
Next stop...100th Day!

Rainy Day Fun in 4th Grade!
The rain didn’t stop our 4th graders from having fun today! They got creative with indoor recess games and shared lots of laughs together. To top it off, they enjoyed a special treat, a guest reader! Miss Gowin’s mom joined the class to read and share in the joy of learning. What a wonderful way to brighten a rainy day at MES!

We celebrated our Character Counts Award Winners for October! Students were nominated by staff for going above and beyond to show GRIT, kindness, and Bluestreak pride. Mrs. Carver drew names from our nominees, and the lucky students enjoyed a special lunch with a friend as a thank you to them for the integrity they show. We’re so proud of these shining examples of what it means to be a Bluestreak with heart! 💙

Our 6th graders are leading the way for Red Ribbon Week! The entire class showed up decked out in red shirts, socks, hats, and all!
They’re setting the example for our younger students by showing school spirit and making positive choices. We’re so proud of this group of leaders who truly know how to lead the way and show what being a Bluestreak is all about!

✏️ Writing is an essential skill for learning and our MES students are shining! 📚
Our 3rd graders have been busy breaking down story elements to strengthen their writing projects, while our 4th graders completed incredible animal research reports now proudly on display.
From brainstorming ideas to publishing their final pieces, our students are learning that writing helps them think, create, and communicate.
Write on, MES! 💙

Future Architects and Builders at MES! Mrs. Gullquist’s 6th grade students have been hard at work sketching house designs and using scale to create detailed blueprints. From there, they brought their ideas to life turning their blueprints into incredible 3-D houses! Their creativity and precision are so impressive. We may have some future architects and builders right here at MES! 🏗️💙

👻 Our preschoolers are hard at work… but their work is play!
Check out these adorable ghost creations our littlest learners made. They’re learning, creating, and having so much fun along the way!

MES Kicks Off Red Ribbon Week!
We kicked off Red Ribbon Week with Officer Slater speaking to our students about making safe and healthy life choices. A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Carver and Mr. McElravy for organizing the fun week ahead, and to our amazing PTO for sponsoring the special items our students will receive each day!
Today we showed our support by wearing RED. We had a great start to a meaningful week at MES!

Parents and students from the Class of 2026 attended the Senior Class Expectations Meeting with sponsors Mr. Penrod and Mrs. Parcel. The evening covered important details about the senior trip, as well as attendance and behavior expectations for the year.
We were also joined by Danielle Downs from Lake Land College, who shared valuable information about completing the FAFSA and ways to fund college education.
It was a great and informative night for our seniors as they prepare for their final year at MHS!

In the spirit of giving, our MES PTO is excited to announce a Food Drive to support our very own Backpack Blessings Program! From Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7, we invite our students to join together to help families in need right here in our community.
Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to school during the week. Every single item makes a different – and each item will count as one point toward their class total! The class that collects the most points will win a special prize provided by our amazing PTO!
Items we’re collecting include:
-Soups & canned goods
-Individual pasta meals or mac & cheese cups
-Fruit cups & granola bars
-Oatmeal packets & juice boxes
-Popcorn or healthy individually packaged snacks (Goldfish, crackers, etc.)
Let’s work together, MES families, to show our Bluestreak generosity and big hearts! Your kindness helps keep our Backpack Blessings Program going strong and ensures that every child in our community has something good to eat.
Thank you for helping us make a difference, one can, one box, and one caring heart at a time.
