All aboard the Polar Express! 🚂❄️ Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Skidmore loaded up the Polar Express and took their 2nd graders on a grand holiday adventure. Don’t worry—they made it past the polar ice caps just fine, and every student was safely back by dismissal! The very best news? Every child could still hear the sound of the silver bell… just like all who truly believe. 💫🔔 What a magical day filled with wonder, imagination, and Christmas cheer! 🎄✨

What a fun, hands-on way to spark curiosity and bring learning to life—especially during this special time of year! Thank you to Dahnke’s for such a memorable experience for our littlest Bluestreaks. 💙

MES truly had the best Christmas surprise when Ms. Riker came out of retirement to sub for us — what a gift! Seeing a familiar, much-loved face back in our building was such a joy for both students and staff. What a Christmas treat to have her spend the day with us! 🎄✨ Our 5th graders have also been busy spreading a little global cheer through learning. They have been researching and creating presentations about different cultures from around the world. This project helps students build research skills, collaboration, and public-speaking confidence, while also encouraging curiosity, empathy, and respect for cultures beyond their own. Through this work, students learn that our differences make the world richer and that understanding others is an important part of becoming responsible, thoughtful citizens. What a wonderful reminder that learning, connection, and community truly make this season special at MES.

Mrs. Feliciano’s students have been hard at work spreading Christmas cheer throughout our school! 🎄✨ They used real pine tree cuttings and other natural materials to create beautiful winter artwork, bringing a touch of the outdoors inside. We absolutely love their creativity and imagination. Projects like this allow students to think outside the box, explore new textures, and express themselves in unique ways. When kids are given the freedom to be creative, amazing things happen! Their cheerful artwork has truly helped make MES feel warm, festive, and full of holiday spirit.

Mrs. Skidmore’s 2nd graders have been busy spreading Christmas cheer! 🎄 These sweeties have been working hard to learn ’Twas the Night Before Christmas and proudly shared their recitation with classrooms around the building, complete with their beautiful artwork. To make the day even sweeter, Mrs. Skidmore’s class decorated gingerbread cookies and enjoyed a festive treat together—and anyone who knows, knows… Mrs. Skidmore makes the best cookies! 🍪❤️ What a joyful way to celebrate the season at MES!

The 2026–27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is available now at fafsa.gov. If your child plans to attend college or career/trade school between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, encourage them to fill out their FAFSA form right away to be eligible for as much aid as possible.

Remember: Completing the FAFSA is a graduation requirement! For students, not planning to attend college, there is a waiver that must be completed.

We recommend that your child complete their sections of the FAFSA form first to save time and prevent errors. Once they're finished, your child will send you an invitation to their FAFSA form with instructions on how to access and submit it.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Lowry at lowrya@martinsville.k12.il.us.
