Dear Martinsville Families:
Happy October 1st. I want to thank our students, teachers, and families for the great start to the 2024-2025 school year. As we welcome the fall season, we embrace a month filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and engagement within our school community. October brings with it an increased focus on the academic workload and expectations that are placed on our students. Please encourage your students to stay on top of their coursework and to practice good study habits. Your student(s) have the opportunity to take advantage of our after-school tutoring program every Tuesday/Thursday from 3 PM to 4 PM. Parents can and should monitor student progress through Teacherease. Also, attendance has a direct effect on student performance. A missed school day is a lost opportunity to learn. Attending school regularly is essential to students gaining the academic and social skills they need to succeed. Poor attendance has serious implications for later outcomes. As we near the end of the first quarter (October 11th), please make arrangements to meet with your student’s teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 22nd and/or 24th.
With Great Respect,
Mr. Waggoner
Superintendent
