On our last SIP Day, our teachers had the opportunity to purchase $400 worth of books to grow their classroom libraries, what an incredible investment in our students!
Check out Mrs. Skidmore’s class already excited and ready to dive into all the new reads! We love seeing our Bluestreaks fired up about books and building a love for reading. 💙📖
We are so thankful to be part of a district that prioritizes putting books into the hands of our students, there’s nothing better than watching them fall in love with reading!

⚡️ It was a hair-raising day in 1st grade! 😄
Our Bluestreak scientists explored static electricity and discovered how charged objects can make things move...yes, even their hair! From giggles to gravity-defying hairstyles, students learned how static electricity builds and transfers energy in a fun, hands-on way.
Science + smiles = a shocking good time! ⚡️

Mrs. Carver recognized our February Good Character Award winners today!
We are so proud of these students for showing what it truly means to be Bluestreaks—demonstrating kindness, respect, responsibility, and teamwork each day. 💙
Keep up the great work and continue to lead by example!

These candid moments say it all! 🌈
Our Bluestreaks shine bright each and every day, bringing joy, laughter, and energy just like the colors of the rainbow. From big smiles to sweet friendships, these snapshots capture the happiness that fills our halls.
These kids truly make MES a brighter, better place! 💙

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our Bluestreaks! 🍀🌈
From trapping sneaky leprechauns to building bright rainbows, our students found fun all throughout the day! They even took time to paint their very own leprechauns!

Mrs. Smith’s 2nd graders had a tasty math lesson today!
Using “leprechaun food” (also known as Lucky Charms 😉), students practiced their math skills while sorting, counting, and maybe sneaking a few marshmallows along the way!
Hands-on learning + a little St. Patrick’s Day fun = a great day to be a Bluestreak! 💙🌈

Our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students enjoyed a fun and engaging dental presentation today thanks to Nurse K inviting g NCT Tours.
Students learned all about the importance of taking care of their teeth in a way that was interactive, educational, and full of smiles!
Thank you, NCT Tours, for helping our Bluestreaks build healthy habits that will last a lifetime! 💙

Don’t miss our school’s production of The Jungle Book—an adventure full of laughter, catchy songs, and jungle-sized talent! 🐾🌿 Join us as our amazing students bring Mowgli, Baloo, and all your favorite characters to life in a wild performance you won’t want to miss!

Junior High State Testing is this week, and we want all of our students to feel confident and ready to do their best! Parents can help by making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day of testing. Encouraging a positive attitude and reminding them to simply try their best can make a big difference. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students show what they know and succeed!

Athletic Events this Week!

Miss Gowin and Mrs. Ellington’s students celebrated reaching their AR reading goals with a well-deserved reward! Their classes enjoyed some extra sunshine during recess and wrapped up the celebration with a fun pizza party together.
We are so proud of these Bluestreak readers for their hard work, dedication, and love of books! Keep turning those pages and reaching those goals!

The Bluestreaks were surprised with a movie day today that celebrated American history and teamwork. Students gathered to watch the inspiring film Miracle, which tells the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team and their incredible victory over the Soviet Union. The movie highlights perseverance, determination, and what can happen when a group of individuals comes together with a common goal.
In addition to the movie, Mr. Evers rewarded students with a special treat for demonstrating great responsibility throughout the quarter. Students who had 10 or fewer names on the hallway pass log were recognized for their positive behavior and commitment to staying focused in class.
It was a fun and well-deserved break for students who have been working hard, and a great reminder of the values of teamwork, dedication, and school pride.
It’s a great day to be a Bluestreak! 💙

Ms. Woodard and Miss Sheila worked with our 5th grade students today to learn all about the phases of the moon. But this lesson had a sweet twist!
Students practiced creating the moon’s phases using Oreos, carefully scraping and shaping the filling to match each phase. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience that made science both engaging and delicious!
They also had a furry friend stop by for a visit.
Great job to our 5th graders for putting their moon knowledge to the test and maybe enjoying a cookie or two along the way!

If a Bluestreak Gives a Pig a Kiss… What Happens Next? In honor of Read Across America, our Bluestreaks held a Change Fundraiser inspired by the story If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff. But our students had a very important question… If a Bluestreak gives a pig a kiss… what might happen next? Our students and families brought in change all week to vote for which staff member would have to kiss a pig, and we were absolutely overwhelmed by the support and excitement! The money raised will help us purchase IAR Carnival prizes, support our Color Run, and help fund other fun student events throughout the year. 🥇 Top “Kiss the Pig” Leaders: • Mrs. Feliciano • Mrs. Manuel • Mrs. Conzen It came down to Mrs. Feliciano and Mrs. Manuel, who had to settle it the recess way… with a rock, paper, scissors showdown! Mrs. Manuel won the honor of kissing the pig, but we just happened to have a spare pig ready for Mrs. Feliciano, so both got to give sweet piggies a smooch! It was a hilarious and memorable moment for our students and staff, and a great way to celebrate reading, teamwork, and school spirit. Thank you to our amazing students and families for your support. Our Bluestreaks proved once again that a little change can make a big difference! 💙

Several Martinsville Jr./Sr. High School Band members recently represented our school at the Lincoln Trail Band Festival held at Casey-Westfield High School.
Their hard work, dedication, and musical talent were on full display as they performed alongside other outstanding student musicians from across the region. We are proud of the way they represented Martinsville and the Bluestreaks .
Great job, Bluestreaks! 💙

That’s right...some (kids) stopped by for a visit in Mrs. Ever's classroom today, and they were the G.O.A.T. of the day! Our students had a blast meeting their new furry friends, learning about goats, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.
Between the two-legged kids and the four-legged kids, it was a classroom full of fun, curiosity, and a little bit of farm charm. Just another “kid-tastic” day at MES!

Bluestreak Send-Off!
Today our school halls were filled with energy as we gave one of our amazing 5th graders a BIG Bluestreak send-off before heading to the State Wrestling Championship!
With "Eye of the Tiger”pumping through the speakers and the entire school chanting his name, the excitement was unreal. The support from classmates, teachers, and staff showed just how proud we are of his hard work and determination on the mat.
His dedication and toughness have gotten him this far, and we know he’ll bring that same Bluestreak grit to the state tournament.
We’re all behind you and cheering you on! Good luck at State — we know you’ll represent Bluestreak Nation with heart and determination.
Bluestreak Proud!💙⚡

We had a special visitor at Martinsville Elementary today! Clark County Fair Queen Kami stopped by to share a story with our students. Our Bluestreaks loved the visit and enjoyed spending time listening to a great story from our county royalty!
Meanwhile, Mrs. Manuel's kids were feeling extra lucky while working on Lucky Charm fractions! Students had fun sorting, counting, and turning their cereal into fraction practice while building their math skills. Learning + a little sweetness = a great day in 3rd grade!

Mrs. Skidmore’s second graders have been busy becoming young researchers! Students have been learning all about different animals, exploring interesting facts, habitats, and unique characteristics.
Each student chose their favorite animal, completed a research project, and proudly presented what they learned to their classmates. It was wonderful to see their hard work, creativity, and confidence as they shared their knowledge!
Great job, second graders! Keep up the amazing work!
