We had the honor of getting a sneak peek of The Jungle Book musical at MES today and WOW… what an amazing show! We are especially proud to share that 26 of the 37 cast members are MES students… how incredible is that?! 💙 Our students are shining on stage, and it’s so exciting to see their hard work and talent come to life. A huge shoutout to the cast and directors for all the time, effort, and heart you’ve poured into this production. We know it’s going to be an unforgettable performance! Break a leg—we are cheering you on every step of the way!

Mrs. Evers’ 3rd grade class had a magically delicious time using Lucky Charms to practice their math skills! From sorting and counting to solving problems, these Bluestreaks turned a sweet treat into a fun and engaging learning experience. Who knew math could taste this good?!

Mrs. Young’s 1st grade “Presidents” stole the show as they proudly shared their presidential reports and speeches with the Board. From big smiles to brave voices, our youngest leaders did an amazing job speaking in front of a crowd and showing off all they’ve learned. We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, confidence, and courage! The future is bright with these Bluestreak leaders! 💙🇺🇸

Our 3rd graders are IAR READY! Our students have been working hard on their essays and preparing for next week’s IAR and it shows! They took on a fun class challenge to see who could include the most details in their writing. As students read their essays aloud, classmates kept tally marks to check for key R.A.C.E. strategy components: ✔️ Topic Sentence ✔️ Details ✔️ “Tell Me More” (elaboration) ✔️ Transition Words ✔️ Concluding Sentence The excitement was real, especially for today's essay champion! We are so proud of the teamwork between our third grade teachers and Title I staff who have been working together over the past few months to strengthen writing skills. It truly takes a team! Let’s cheer them on as they head into IAR next week...go get ‘em, Bluestreaks!

Ms. Woodard and Ms. Sheila’s fifth graders are FIRED UP about adding brand new books to their classroom library! From fresh pages to exciting new stories, these students can’t wait to dive in, explore new worlds, and grow their love for reading. Nothing better than seeing kids this excited about books...let the reading adventures begin!

For students entering 7th–12th grade (2026–2027 season):

April 15 – Mandatory Cheer Workshop

April 16 – Optional Cheer Workshop
3:00–5:00 PM

April 17 – Cheer Tryouts
5:00 PM

On our last SIP Day, our teachers had the opportunity to purchase $400 worth of books to grow their classroom libraries, what an incredible investment in our students! Check out Mrs. Skidmore’s class already excited and ready to dive into all the new reads! We love seeing our Bluestreaks fired up about books and building a love for reading. 💙📖 We are so thankful to be part of a district that prioritizes putting books into the hands of our students, there’s nothing better than watching them fall in love with reading!

⚡️ It was a hair-raising day in 1st grade! 😄 Our Bluestreak scientists explored static electricity and discovered how charged objects can make things move...yes, even their hair! From giggles to gravity-defying hairstyles, students learned how static electricity builds and transfers energy in a fun, hands-on way. Science + smiles = a shocking good time! ⚡️

Mrs. Carver recognized our February Good Character Award winners today! We are so proud of these students for showing what it truly means to be Bluestreaks—demonstrating kindness, respect, responsibility, and teamwork each day. 💙 Keep up the great work and continue to lead by example!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our Bluestreaks! 🍀🌈 From trapping sneaky leprechauns to building bright rainbows, our students found fun all throughout the day! They even took time to paint their very own leprechauns!

Mrs. Smith’s 2nd graders had a tasty math lesson today! Using “leprechaun food” (also known as Lucky Charms 😉), students practiced their math skills while sorting, counting, and maybe sneaking a few marshmallows along the way! Hands-on learning + a little St. Patrick’s Day fun = a great day to be a Bluestreak! 💙🌈

Our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students enjoyed a fun and engaging dental presentation today thanks to Nurse K inviting g NCT Tours. Students learned all about the importance of taking care of their teeth in a way that was interactive, educational, and full of smiles! Thank you, NCT Tours, for helping our Bluestreaks build healthy habits that will last a lifetime! 💙

Junior High State Testing is this week, and we want all of our students to feel confident and ready to do their best! Parents can help by making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day of testing. Encouraging a positive attitude and reminding them to simply try their best can make a big difference. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students show what they know and succeed!

Athletic Events this Week!

Miss Gowin and Mrs. Ellington’s students celebrated reaching their AR reading goals with a well-deserved reward! Their classes enjoyed some extra sunshine during recess and wrapped up the celebration with a fun pizza party together. We are so proud of these Bluestreak readers for their hard work, dedication, and love of books! Keep turning those pages and reaching those goals!

The Bluestreaks were surprised with a movie day today that celebrated American history and teamwork. Students gathered to watch the inspiring film Miracle, which tells the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team and their incredible victory over the Soviet Union. The movie highlights perseverance, determination, and what can happen when a group of individuals comes together with a common goal.

In addition to the movie, Mr. Evers rewarded students with a special treat for demonstrating great responsibility throughout the quarter. Students who had 10 or fewer names on the hallway pass log were recognized for their positive behavior and commitment to staying focused in class.

It was a fun and well-deserved break for students who have been working hard, and a great reminder of the values of teamwork, dedication, and school pride.

Ms. Woodard and Miss Sheila worked with our 5th grade students today to learn all about the phases of the moon. But this lesson had a sweet twist! Students practiced creating the moon’s phases using Oreos, carefully scraping and shaping the filling to match each phase. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience that made science both engaging and delicious! They also had a furry friend stop by for a visit. Great job to our 5th graders for putting their moon knowledge to the test and maybe enjoying a cookie or two along the way!
