It's been another busy week at MES.
Our 2nd graders enjoyed some inside recess time, filling the classroom with laughter, creativity, and teamwork.
Meanwhile, our preschoolers are diving into an exciting new unit all about volcanoes and dinosaurs! From erupting experiments to exploring the prehistoric world, these little learners are asking big questions and discovering how the Earth changes over time. The curiosity (and excitement!) is erupting just like their volcanoes!
Art Night is happening this Friday in the High School cafeteria from 5:30–7:00 PM!
Join us for a special evening with local artist Ashley Littlejohn, who will be leading a watercolor painting class. This fun event will include creativity, food, and great company.
We still have several spots available for the 7th - 12th grade class, so make plans to attend and enjoy a night of art and fun!

The Winter Sports Banquet honoring our High School Boys and Girls Basketball teams and High School Cheerleaders will be held on March 30 at 6:00 PM.
The Booster Club will provide the meal. Athletes and coaches eat for free, and all family members' meals cost $5.00.

The High School Boys and Cheerleaders travel to Tuscola to play in the quarter-final regional game tonight at 6:00 PM. Admission is $6.00 per person. Let's Go Bluestreaks!
It’s National FFA Week! This week celebrates the impact of agricultural education, leadership, and service while honoring the vital role agriculture plays in our daily lives and communities.
Mrs. Jenness and our FFA students have a week full of fun activities planned, and everyone is encouraged to join the celebration by participating in the dress-up days.

Recently, Hector Herrera, Ben Hiatt, and Evan Seaman visited Indiana State University, where they toured campus, met with admissions counselors, and enjoyed a great day learning about college life.
In addition, Ireland Parker participated in a job shadow experience at Horizon Health in Paris, gaining valuable insight into healthcare careers.
Students interested in setting up job shadows or college visits should see Mrs. Lowry, the school counselor, for more details.

This year, our Jr./Sr. High School implemented a daily 30-minute Bluestreak Period designed to support student success and connection. During this time, students attend class and club meetings, receive homework help from teachers, participate in SEL lessons and reflection activities, and complete test-preparation work.
Students who maintain good attendance and complete required activities earn a Fun Friday reward.
This week, our junior high students celebrated with a fun activity in the gym as Mr. Evers, current principal and former elementary PE teacher, brought back a classic favorite: the parachute game.
Next week, our high school students who have met the requirements will be rewarded with an extended one-hour lunch period.
What a fun day — and great incentives — to be a Bluestreak! 💙

There’s nothing better than being creative, learning new things, and having fun with our friends along the way. From hands-on projects to lots of laughter in the classrooms, our students continue to shine bright in everything they do.
We are so proud of the joy, teamwork, and excitement for learning that fills our halls each day. MES is truly a special place!
Mrs. Gullquist’s students took their Social Studies learning to the next level by turning their unit on Ancient Egypt into a hands-on STEM challenge! After learning about the Great Pyramids of Giza, how they were built, and why they were so important to Egyptian civilization, students worked in teams to design and construct their own pyramids. Just like the ancient Egyptians, they had to think like engineers planning strong bases, measuring carefully, and problem-solving when their structures wouldn’t stand firm. Students discussed how real pyramids were built with massive stone blocks, how they were aligned with the stars, and why they were created as tombs for pharaohs. It took teamwork, communication, perseverance, and critical thinking to get their pyramids built sturdy and tall! This project was the perfect blend of history and STEM bringing the wonders of Egypt to life while building collaboration and problem-solving skills. We love seeing our students learn by doing at MES!

Mrs. Feliciano’s class had a very special visitor today… and let’s just say it was the G.O.A.T. of all classroom surprises! The students enjoyed a little “goat yoga,” and while we’re not sure how much actual yoga happened, we are sure there was lots of giggling, balancing, and tiny hooves climbing.
MES is always finding new ways to make learning memorable and today was simply baaa-rilliant!
Mrs. Parcel’s Foundations of Teaching class is diving into a unit on how to teach elementary students to read. As part of this hands-on experience, students have been visiting the elementary school to read AR books with younger learners.
It’s been a great opportunity for our future educators to build connections, practice literacy strategies, and inspire a love of reading in the next generation of Bluestreaks. 📚💙

The Lady Bluestreaks ended their season tonight with a hard-fought loss to Cumberland. We are incredibly proud of these young ladies for their dedication, teamwork, and heart throughout the season. Thank you to our players, coaches, families, and fans for your unwavering support. It was a great year to be a Bluestreak!

Our kindergarteners have been busy putting their building skills and spelling skills together!
Using LEGO blocks, they built their words one brick at a time. Hands-on learning like this makes practicing letters and sounds fun, engaging, and meaningful. We love seeing our students create, collaborate, and grow, one word at a time! 💙
When the sun shines bright after those long, cold winter days, it’s the perfect time to soak up every minute before those chilly temperatures try to sneak back in!
Ms. Woodard and Ms. Sheila took AR reading outside to do just that — combining fresh air, sunshine, and a good book.
