Save the Date!

Our 5th graders took a step back in time this week and brought the Industrial Revolution to life… Shark Tank style!
Students in Mr. Gard and Mrs. Conzen’s classes researched important inventions like the steam engine, sewing machine, dynamite, and the arc light. They explored how these innovations impacted people and changed the world during that era.
Each team pitched their invention to a panel of “sharks,” using creative presentations that included PowerPoints, posters, and even replicas to try and earn an investment. The sharks had some tough decisions to make!
In the end, congratulations to the Sewing Machine team for earning the top investment! Their strong knowledge of history, eye-catching presentation, and positive teamwork truly stood out. Their encouragement and collaboration made their pitch impossible to resist!
As a reward, they received a special 3D shark from Mr. Gard! 🦈

Come out and see what the FFA students have been growing this semester. Just a heads up; it’s beautiful inside the greenhouse!
Ag students will also be running the cotton candy machine, making fun spring-themed drinks, and operating a bounce house and other fun activities.
We’ll sugar them up but try to wear them out while you shop our annual and perennial selection.

April 14 – Testing & Community Service Day at Martinsville Jr./Sr. High School
Our Bluestreaks had a fantastic day learning and giving back to our community.
Our 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders worked hard completing their state assessments. We are proud of their focus, effort, and determination throughout the testing process.
Our 7th graders rolled up their sleeves and helped with cleanup at our local city cemeteries and Woodlands Park, showing great pride in their community.
Our Seniors spent the day helping at the Martinsville Agricultural Fairgrounds, making a positive impact through service and teamwork.
It was truly a great day to see our students working hard both academically and in service to others. We are proud of our Bluestreaks for representing our school and community so well.
It’s a great day to be a Bluestreak!

Here’s a fun follow-up post for our kindergarten followers.
Round two of their wild adventure at Aikman’s Wildlife!
So many smiles, laughs, and “wow” moments as our students explored, fed animals, and took in all the sights.
These are the kinds of experiences our kids will be talking about long after the day is over!

Our kindergarten students had a WILD day on their field trip to Aikman’s Wildlife!
From riding through the zoo to getting up close and feeding animals, our students had unforgettable hands-on experiences. They also had a great time exploring the museum and enjoying time to play and discover.
A big thank you to our PTO for providing transportation and helping make this fun and engaging day of learning possible for our students and thank you to our amazing Kindergarten teachers who planned and organized a fun educational trip for our kids!

We are so lucky at MES to have Mrs. Carver supporting our students in such a meaningful way! 💙
She spends time in classrooms providing social-emotional learning lessons that help our students grow not just academically, but as kind, thoughtful teammates. Mrs. Manuel’s 3rd graders had the opportunity to participate in a lesson focused on teamwork, and it was wonderful to see students collaborating, communicating, and supporting one another.
These are the moments that help shape strong classrooms and even stronger kids. Great job, everyone!
