September is Attendance Awareness Month!

Our JH Lady Bluestreaks celebrated the end of their softball season with their team banquet last night!

We are so proud of this group of girls and the hard work, dedication, and growth they showed throughout the season. Thank you to our players, coaches, and families for the time and commitment you gave to the program.

Congratulations on a great season, Lady Bluestreaks! We can't wait to see what the future holds for this group!

We are excited to recognize our Junior High and High School Students of the Month!

JH Student of the Month — Piper McCullough nominated by Mrs. Williams

Piper has been a tremendous help since the start of the school year! She is always willing to lend a hand, whether helping with the Word Up! project, completing bulletin boards, delivering materials to classrooms, or tackling other tasks when needed.

Piper is dependable, hardworking, and always willing to help. She also maintains great grades and works hard to keep them up. Her positive attitude and willingness to serve others make her a wonderful example of what it means to be a Bluestreak!

HS Student of the Month — Kayden Jenkins nominated by Mrs. Cross

Kayden is an exceptional student who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, determination, and leadership. He comes to class with a positive attitude, encourages those around him, and is always willing to put in the extra effort needed to reach his goals.

Kayden helps keep those around him on track while remaining respectful and encouraging. He isn't afraid to stand up for what is right and advocates for both himself and others. His leadership, positive attitude, and willingness to work hard make a positive impact on those around him.

FIRST HOUSE ACADEMIC CHALLENGE!

Today, our 12 Bluestreak Houses went head-to-head in our FIRST House Academic Challenge—and it was a good ol’ fashioned SPELLING BEE!

Two students from each of our twelve houses stepped up to the challenge and tested their spelling skills. While students received the word list ahead of time, the actual challenge remained a secret until today!

The competition was intense, the house spirit was strong, and our students showed great courage, preparation, and determination!

Miss Seaman’s 3rd graders were busy partner reading their Wonders story! We love seeing our students reading together, building fluency, and helping one another grow! And one talented student even designed her teacher's nails! We think she may have a future in nail art!

Mr. Gard’s 6th graders worked together to create a mural that represents and celebrates our community! Students combined creativity, teamwork, and what they’ve learned about the place we call home to bring their ideas to life. We love seeing our Bluestreaks take pride in their community!

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful community partners who helped make our Stars, Stripes & Safety Night such a fun and successful event! We are so grateful to Martinsville PTO, Martinsville on the Move, Willow Creek Church, First Christian Church, Bible Church, Marathon, Girl Scouts, HRC, Clark County Health Department, and Clark County 4-H for taking the time to join us and help create a special evening for our students and families. We appreciate your continued support of Martinsville Elementary and our Bluestreaks!

We would like to give a special thank you to our local first responders for taking the time to join us for Stars, Stripes & Safety Night! Thank you to the Martinsville Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Martinsville Fire Department, and Clark County Ambulance Service for giving our students and families the opportunity to learn from you, ask questions, explore emergency vehicles, and hear important safety tips. We appreciate the time you took to educate our students and, most importantly, everything you do each day to help keep our school and community safe! Thank you for being such wonderful partners to our Bluestreaks!

Thursday night was a fun and successful evening at MES! Our goal was to create a night where families could come together at school, enjoy patriotic activities, learn important safety tips, and connect with the many wonderful organizations that serve our community. A HUGE thank you to our local organizations, churches, businesses, fire department, police department, EMS, and everyone who helped make the evening possible. We are so thankful for the people who give their time to support our students and families! And, of course, thank you to all of our Bluestreak families who came out and joined the fun! We have LOTS of pictures to share, so be watching throughout the weekend for more highlights from Stars, Stripes & Safety Night!

Kickoff: 7:00 PM Unity Christian of Decatur 2001 E Mound Rd Decatur, IL 62526 Safe travels to our players, cheerleaders, coaches, families, and fans making the trip! LET’S GO, BLUESTREAKS! 💙🤍⚡🏈

A little peek at Mrs. Ellington’s 4th grade this week! From a fun set of “twins” , to taking time to remember and honor September 11 , to putting their engineering skills to the test! Students designed and tested paper airplanes while learning about the criteria and constraints engineers must consider when creating a successful design. Lots of learning, experimenting, and fun happening in 4th grade!

Last week Martinsville students had the opportunity to climb up into the cab of farm equipment to see the view. They got to experience firsthand just how limited visibility can be from the drivers seat. The day helped students understand why staying alert, slowing down, and giving equipment plenty of room is so important. A huge thank you to Birkey's Farm Store - Casey, IL, Sloan Implement Co. - Casey, IL, and South Central FS for providing equipment and volunteers. The day also wouldn’t have been possible out the great help from Martinsville FFA and our board.

It was a great night to be a Bluestreak! The Lady Bluestreaks JV and Varsity teams both picked up WINS tonight against Neoga! The gym was full of excitement, and our Hawaiian theme made the night even more fun! Between games, we were excited to recognize more than 40 of our Elementary Volleyball League players. A huge thank you to Coach Nici Evers for organizing the league and helping introduce our younger Bluestreaks to the game of volleyball! We also want to recognize some of our students who helped make tonight special. Emily Craig once again did a fantastic job singing the National Anthem, Caden Wilhoit did a great job announcing our Elementary Volleyball League players and the starting lineups, and Maria Gonzalez captured the night by taking pictures. We can’t thank these students enough for their willingness to step up, lead, and help make our athletic events special. That’s Bluestreak pride in action! From our youngest volleyball players to our high school athletes and student leaders, we are so proud of ALL of our Bluestreaks!
