It doesn’t get much better than this at MES! Kindergarten readers falling in love with books, kids racing Miss Jenn down the slide with big smiles, special guest readers from 1st grade sharing their love of reading, and Mrs. Poston teaching students how to carefully candle an egg while learning about the growth of a chick. These are the moments that make elementary school so special, hands-on learning, joyful memories, and lots of smiles along the way!

Thanks to the University of Illinois Extension Office out of Marshall for hosting a fun-filled day of cooking challenges for three students from Mrs. Parcel’s Foods class!

Although the team didn’t place in the cooking challenge, June Davidson earned 5th place in the individual skills challenge, which is a great accomplishment!

Most importantly, the girls had a wonderful time learning new skills, gaining experience, and representing Martinsville with pride. We are proud of their effort and willingness to step outside the classroom to try something new!

March Writeness brought out the best in our 5th grade writers! Throughout this persuasive writing competition, each round introduced a new topic for students to research, analyze, and defend through writing. It challenged them to think critically, get creative, and strengthen their argument-writing skills along the way. For the championship round, our two finalists read their final pieces centered on the powerful question: What does it mean to be a Bluestreak? Both authors delivered heartfelt writing that left the judges in tears and reminded us all what makes being a Bluestreak so special. 💙

On April 24th, our Martinsville students put on a fantastic 2026 Spring Concert in the high school gym! 🎶

The evening featured wonderful performances by the 5th/6th Grade Band, Jr. High/High School Band, and the Villagers choir. From classics like Pachelbel Canon to favorites from Harry Potter, Grease!, Go the Distance, and Bridge Over Troubled Water, our students showcased their hard work, growth, and musical talent. We also enjoyed a special performance by Blane Dashiell, a Villagers presentation by Naomi Hills, and concluded the night with an Awards Presentation recognizing student achievements.

Thank you to our director Linda Carpenter, student teacher Lia Rigdon, Diane Reeds, the students, families, and community members who helped make the evening such a success. We are proud of our Bluestreak musicians and all they accomplished this year! 💙

Today, our Martinsville Juniors and Seniors had a great opportunity to visit Lincoln Trail College and experience everything the campus has to offer!

Students were welcomed by President Tona Ambrose and participated in a full day of activities, including a campus tour, sessions on financial aid, scholarships, admissions, and advising, a student panel discussion, free lunch in the cafeteria, a visit to The Barn and Rec Center, and a closing Q&A session in Statesmen Park.

A special thank you to Martinsville alumni Landry Price and Kamryn Remlinger for leading our students around campus and helping make the visit even more meaningful. It’s always great to see Bluestreak graduates giving back! 💙

Thank you to everyone at Lincoln Trail College for organizing such a fantastic and informative day for our students as they explore their future opportunities after high school.

Our 3rd graders celebrated Earth Day by giving back to our community! Students took a walk to the ball diamonds today where they rolled up their sleeves to pick up litter and pull weeds. We love seeing our students take pride in their community while learning the importance of caring for the world around them. Great job, 3rd grade!

Our kindergarteners celebrated Earth Day by taking their learning outdoors and putting it into action! After learning about ways to care for our planet, they headed outside to help make both the Earth and our school a little better. Our 2nd graders in Mrs. Smith’s class put their Earth Day learning into action today! After learning about the importance of caring for our planet, students grabbed gloves and bags and helped pick up litter around our school yard and playground. We are proud of these young leaders for showing that even small acts can make a big difference. Thank you, Mrs. Smith’s class, for helping keep MES beautiful and for being great examples of what it means to care for our community and our Earth!

Today we celebrated and showed appreciation for our one and only MES “Grammie”…Mrs. Paula! 💙 She’s the glue that holds us all together, the bright smile that greets you the moment you walk through our doors, and the fixer of just about everything. From helping students to supporting staff, Mrs. Paula does it all with kindness, patience, and a whole lot of heart. MES is a better place because of her, and we are so thankful for all she does each and every day!
